সিরাজুল ইসলাম আজাদ, চট্টগ্রামের আঞ্চলিক গানের মুকুটহীন সম্রাট। তিনি চকরিয়ার বদরখালী গ্রামের কৃতি সন্তান। আশির দশকে সিরাজুল আজাদের উত্থান চকরিয়া ও কক্সবাজার অঞ্চলে আঞ্চলিক গান গেয়ে। তার সংগীতগুরু হলেন খ্যাতিমান সংগীতজ্ঞ রশিদ কাওয়াল ও আহমদ কবির আজাদ।
আশি ও নব্বইয়ের দশকে সিরাজুল ইসলাম আজাদ দক্ষিণ চট্টগ্রামের আঞ্চলিক গানের সম্রাট হিসাবে পরিচিত ছিলেন। সংগীত জীবনের একটি বড় সময় তিনি মঞ্চে গান গেয়ে লাখ লাখ শ্রোতার মন কেড়ে নেন। ১৯৯১ সালে প্রলয়ংকরী ঘূর্ণিঝড়ের পর সিরাজুল ইসলাম আজাদ সাধারণ ৫৪৩ টুইনওয়ানে রেকর্ড করে 'পাষাণ দরিয়া' নামে একটি ক্যাসেট বাজারে ছাড়েন। সেই ক্যাসেটটি চট্টগ্রামের সবচেয়ে জনপ্রিয় ক্যাসেটের একটি। চকরিয়ার সাধারণ একটি ক্যাসেট প্রতিষ্ঠান থেকে বের হওয়া 'পাষাণ দরিয়া' অ্যালবামের গানগুলো যেন উপকূলীয় অঞ্চলের মানুষের জীবনের প্রতিচ্ছবি।
২০০২ সালে চট্টগ্রামের প্রযোজনা প্রতিষ্ঠান আমিন স্টোর থেকে সিরাজুল ইসলাম আজাদের 'হেডমাস্টর' অ্যালবাম বের হলে সেটিও সুপারডুপার হিট হয়। এই ক্যাসেটটি চট্টগ্রামের অতীত সব রেকর্ড ভঙ্গ করে। 'ও মামুরে হেডমাস্টরে তোঁয়ারে তোয়ার' গানটি মানুষের মুখে মুখে ফেরে। সিরাজের খ্যাতি চট্টগ্রাম ছাড়িয়ে সারা দেশে এমনকি বিশ্বের নানা প্রান্তে ছড়িয়ে পড়ে। তখন কালজয়ী শ্যামসুন্দর বৈষ্ণবের মতোই সিরাজকে চট্টগ্রামের আঞ্চলিক গানের নতুন সম্রাট হিসাবে আখ্যা দেওয়া হয়। সিরাজুল ইসলাম আজাদ হলেন জীবনমুখী আঞ্চলিক গানের দিকপাল। সিরাজের 'পরীক্ষা', 'চেয়ারম্যান সাব' ও রাক্ষুসি দরিয়া' অ্যালবামগুলিও সুপারহিট হয়।
বর্তমান গানটি আজ থেকে প্রায় ৩০/৩৫ বছর আগে চকরিয়ার ঘৌড়দৌড় মেলাসহ কক্সবাজার অঞ্চলের বিভিন্ন ফাংশনে গেয়েছিলেন হেডমাস্টরখ্যাত শিল্পী সিরাজুল ইসলাম আজাদ। গানটি ক্যাসেট থেকে সংগৃহীত।

Sirajul Islam Azad, the uncrowned emperor of regional music in Chittagong. He is the son of Kriti of Badarkhali village of Chakriya. The rise of Sirajul Azad in the eighties led to the singing of regional songs in the Chakaria and Cox's Bazar areas. His music gurus are renowned musicians Rashid Kawal and Ahmad Kabir Azad.
In the eighties and nineties, Sirajul Islam Azad was known as the emperor of regional music in South Chittagong. A great time in his musical life, he captivated millions of listeners by singing on stage. After the catastrophic cyclone in 1991, Sirajul Islam Azad released a cassette called 'Pashan Darya' in the record 543 Twin One. That cassette is one of the most popular cassettes in Chittagong. The songs from the album 'Pashan Darya', released from a common cassette company in Chakriya, are a reflection of the life of the people in the coastal region.
When Sirajul Islam Azad's 'Headmaster' album was released from Amin Store in Chittagong in 2002, it also became a superduper hit. This cassette breaks all past records of Chittagong. The song 'O Mamure Headmaster Toare Toare' resonated in people's mouths. Siraj's fame spread beyond Chittagong to the rest of the country and even to different parts of the world. At that time, like the time-honored Shyamsunder Vaishnav, Siraj was called the new emperor of regional music in Chittagong. Sirajul Islam Azad is the director of life-oriented regional songs. Siraj's 'Pariksha', 'Chairman Saab' and 'Raksusi Darya' albums were also super hits.
