Rotten Tomatoes are a good indicator of whether a movie is worth a watch but it shouldn’t be the only basis to determine a movie's watchability. Movies communicate different things to different people one person’s Citizen Kane is another's The Room.

Critics serve a purpose and play an important part in the movie-making business, but that doesn’t mean they get it right all the time. Movies like Blade Runner and The Shining were initially not well-received by critics. Go figure.
