Gretchen, Dennis, Betty and Eric all live in different parts of the world—namely, the Philippines, Hong Kong, South Africa and Australia. Although their surroundings are dissimilar to each other, they all share in that very human of experiences—tragedy. Accidents, the loss of loved ones, and an unexpected diagnosis.

Yet, even amid the usual sadness that accompanies such events, these four people retell the profound life lessons that they learned and how they still found it in themselves to be thankful, no matter what they came up against.
