[Switch on subtitles] Paradiso, Amsterdam, 2024-02-16. Beautiful concert by Helena Deland at Paradiso in Amsterdam on Feb 16th, 2024. She came to play her new album "Goodnight Summerland" for us, including this song here. But she also played some of her older favorites. It was so nice to see her with band this time. And I wasn't sure about this. The last two times I saw her, she played solo acoustic, supporting Andy Shauf. Then, I was blown away because her play was so beautiful, so accessible, so vulnerable - probably also because she was alone on stage - see link below. Well, this time I learned to appreciate the whole soundscape of the band, the interaction, the additional artistry as part of the ingenious arrangements. I am so glad they came and hopefully enjoyed the experience of this nice resonance from the audience, some sold-out shows in very nice venues in European capitals. I am happy for her, for them, and for us :-)

Lyrics for "Swimmer" by Helena Deland (Goonight Summerland, 2023):

[Verse 1]
The sun has hardly warmed the water when it crashes on the sand
You hoped it would be warmer, you say, pulling out your hand
The warmer waters get the more the oceans expand
You told me first and then I didn't really understand

[Verse 2]
If I could turn back time
I would and I’d be good
I would always be kind
To you
To you

[Verse 3]
You say "Look at this, the world still spins and beauty will never go
It was there before and will be there more when there’s no eye to behold"

[Verse 4]
How suitable, you the buoy, you arms like silver fins
Your head afloat the golden glow of waves crashing in

[Verse 5]
If I could make this last
Take more of this moment
Trade in some of my past
You swim
You swim
You in it all, and letting it all in
