Synthesizing and reviewing the ever-growing academic literature is an important skill in academia and science in general. Most will know about narrative reviews and meta-analysis; but perhaps systematic mapping is a less well-known option. I explain the difference among these three approaches, how a systematic mapping is done, and what you can do with the results.
