Kenya's opposition led a fresh round of anti-government protests in various parts of the country on July 7, 2023.

Nairobi saw a heavy police presence throughout the day. Despite the fears of escalating violence, most businesses remained open until midday when running battles began between police and protesters trying to access the CBD. Outside the CBD, violent clashes with the police were witnessed amid mounting anger over the rising cost of living.

We spoke to some protesters and captured the events and atmosphere in Nairobi.
