Simple enough... 200 miles in the form of a 2 mile loop with 550 feet of elevation gain each time round. 120 hours, between a Tuesday AM start and a Sunday AM cut-off to get the job done. The event is the brainchild of the terrific Becca MF Jones and her hubby Jon ~ ‪@midstatemile3725‬ ~

I gave it a real go, but the elevation (particularly the downhill) added up to something my knees couldn't really sustain (not with my current training/conditioning level). I finished 100 miles in about 56 hours, and definitely had time to try for more, but there is a tricky catch: While you can drop from the 200 to the 100 and take a buckle home (and a finish on UltraSignup) for your efforts, you must make that decision at exactly 100 miles in, after finishing 50 laps and prior to starting your 51st. If you do even 1 lap more, you're stuck in DNF territory if you come up short of the 200. With this being my first year, I was satisfied with my effort and happy with all that I had learned about the course and about myself. I plan to be back real soon :)

And that dude who heads out onto the course first, at about 1m10sec in the video? That's Daniel Castro, the only one to go 200 miles this year, crushing it (and 55,000 feet of vertical gain) in about 96hrs. Hell yeah!
