In this week's video, we take you on the must-see circuit for 15 days in Cambodia.

And for that, we will be accompanied by my parents (Marion) who, although they never travel and do not speak English, crossed the globe to find us.

We begin our journey with the pride of the country, I named the temples of ANGKOR.

To make this visit, we put our suitcases in the city of SIEM REAP, which also benefits from other points of interest. So we stay here for 4 days.

DAY 1: We hired a tuk tuk guide/driver for an unbeatable price: $20 a day! Set will accompany us on this first day on the small circuit (excluding Angkor wat) and part of the large circuit.

We continue to visit the wonders of these Khmer temples: Bayon, the terrace of the elephants, Angkor Thom...

The day passes quickly, despite the heat, and at 4 p.m. we return to the hotel to take advantage of the swimming pool. You don't go to bed late, because the alarm clock is early for the next day!

DAY 2: Wake up early to drive to ANGKOR WAT for the sunrise, the largest and best known temple. We were unlucky because there were clouds so we couldn't see much, but at least we had the temple almost to ourselves in the cool of the morning.

After having made a good tour of Angkor wat, we finish the temples of the big circuit... which allows us to leave for BANTEY SREI in the afternoon.

Known as the jewel of Angkor for its beautiful carvings, the temple of Bantey Srei amazes us, and is better than the one hour tuk tuk ride to get there!

DAY 3: No more temples, we let ourselves be guided by Set who takes us to see the "floating villages" (in reality rather the houses on stilts). Checkout is later today, so we took the opportunity to soothe our aching muscles at one of the many massage parlors in town!

DAY 4: Surprise for my parents: We found an elephant sanctuary near Siem Reap. This one opened in 2019 and hosts the elephants that previously (and until 2018!) carried tourists to the temples of Angkor.

The sanctuary is called KULEN ELEPHANT FOREST, and the half day is $40 (with meals included).

It is now time to take the road to BATTAMBANG. We want to go to this colonial city which has been recommended to us, in particular to see the famous cloud of bats which come out by the thousands at sunset time.

We were also told about some great cooking classes on site. So, even if it's not a must according to some, we leave aboard the mini van!

On the spot, we are very pleasantly surprised, in particular by the mountain where the bats live: we find at its top not only the sad "killing caves" where the Khmer Rouge tortured, killed and threw the Cambodians, but also a marvelous temple outside time.

After Battambang, return to Siem Reap to take the night bus to SIHANOUKVILLE. We spend a restless but unusual night in this sleeper bus.

Early in the morning, we are at the port waiting for the first boat for the island of KOH RONG SAMLOEM, which has been sold to us as "paradise".
