Separable verbs (离合词) are verb and object pairs in Chinese that depict a single idea. The name is derived from the fact that the verb and object can separate and act independently with additional modifiers. But beginners often use the wrong type of verbs in speech and don't know exactly when to use separable verbs. In this video, we'll discuss the key differences between separable verbs and regular verbs so you can use them with confidence.

NOTE: The term "action" as used in this video refers to the verb component of a separable verb by itself. The term "activity" refers to the full version of a separable verb (verb + object). So the "activity" IS a separable verb. The point in calling it an "activity" and not "separable verb" is to create a contrast with the "action" form so you can understand when to use which form.
