The Castletown D Day Museum team have battled on despite bad weather on Saturday.

Their special open day was busy again today as the sunny weather returned.

A small convoy of military vehicles from World War 2 toured the area and returned to provide a special exhibition outside of the museum for the two day event.

This museum is dedicated to the several hundred thousand American service personnel who left from directly outside the museum in Castletown, Portland UK to carry out the D Day invasion of June 1944.

The local people who worked in the dockyard at the time are also remembered.

Owner Derek Luckhurst has added a very special exhibit to the collection a 1943 DUKW (refered to as a duck!) an amphibious craft that can also travel on roads too.

These are now very rare craft and Derek himself does not know how many there are still in the UK or in in working order as the one they have now.

Families and enthusiasts spent the day enjoying this very ‘hands on’ museum as visitors are allowed to climb inside them to get a real experience of them much more than just looking at them!
