Los Angeles, CA - July 9, 2024: On Tuesday, Los Angeles Police Officers issued a citation for illegal camping near the Venice Beach Boardwalk on Ozone Avenue, in accordance with Los Angeles Municipal Code (LAMC) Section 41.18. This section of the code prohibits sitting, lying, or sleeping in public areas, including locations like the Venice Beach Boardwalk. The citation was part of the city’s ongoing efforts to manage homeless encampments and was issued during a significant cleanup operation conducted by a multi-agency task force.

This cleanup targeted a homeless encampment and involved team members from the Los Angeles Police Department, the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works, Clean Harbors Environmental Inc., and the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA). The operation is part of a broader city initiative aimed at addressing homelessness while maintaining public health and safety, ensuring compliance with city ordinances designed to keep public spaces accessible and safe for all.

These efforts are conducted regularly, with the goal of balancing enforcement with support services to effectively address the complex issue of homelessness in the Venice Beach area.
