Three teenagers have been injured after a chairlift broke and fell to the snow at Thredbo ski resort over the weekend.

A strong gust of wind is believed to have caused the chair to twist off its cable, causing its riders to plummet to the ground below.

Two of the injured were flown to Canberra Hospital by helicopter and the third was taken to Cooma Hospital and Health Service.
