American beech, air dried. Based on a Cossar long-nose style baffing spoon tracing. Beech was the most commonly used wood for clubheads during the gutta percha era, which spanned the latter half of the 1800s. Simon and David Cossar produced clubs in the late 1700s to the early 1800s. Only four Cossar clubs are known to exist. The Cossars, along with James McEwan and Alexander Nielsen, were the first clubmakers to mark their clubs with their names. All three clubmakers worked in the Edinburgh/Leith area. #golfhistory #golf #hickorygolf
