Hello thanks for tuning in,
In this video I will be turning some black walnut.
The log has been laying out in the weather for 6 to 8 years, the bowl blanks were extremely wet through and through, I don’t really understand why the moisture content was so high,
The log had a crack in the core of the log so maybe water ran in that way or something I don’t really know, but anyway it was some pretty cool grain, I will be showing the turning of one of the bowl blanks and will show the other bowls towards the end of the video, all turned green, i will be spraying the bowl’s with water hose to show the grain of the wood since they are too wet to put a finish on them, and I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed 🤞 that the bowls dry without cracking all to pieces as they dry, i have a little method i do with a soapy water treatment and I’m hoping for the best results, I will have a follow-up video in the future of the bowls with some type of finish on them. I hope you enjoy the video.
