In this video, you will get a glimpse of one of our current home improvement projects: adding extra insulation and a new floor to one of our attics, which is situated above our garage, mud room and kitchen.

This attic is only used to store wood, old furniture and other things we do not access often, so head room is not as important as ensuring that we do all we can to improve the heat retention in this part of our home, as our kitchen is absolutely freezing cold in the winter (it can drop to as low as 9C inside the kitchen when the heating is not turned on).

Having had our kitchen recently surveyed, it turns out that not only is there not enough insulation in the attic above, but there is no insulation at all in the kitchen walls... so that will be a project for another day!
