ThinkPARALLAX sent Elizabeth on the volunteer trip of a lifetime. She explored McLeod Ganj, met the Tibetan locals and volunteered at the refugee-ran Lha Charity.
Since 1959 - and to this day - the people of Tibet are victim to a cultural genocide. China punishes them for observing Buddhism and recently revoked their right to a passport. In the last 5 years, 138 Tibetans have set themselves on fire to bring awareness to their people. There has got to be a better way to get their message to the world.
150,000+ Tibetans have taken refuge in India, and Dharamsala is considered a 'promised land' for many.
