Without a doubt fans noticed the intro music changed from Season 1 to Season 2 but is there a difference from Season 2 and on?
The five pieces of theme songs you hear here are straight from the official House of Cards soundtrack released alongside each season.
Their title inside the album are:
[0:00-1:49] Season 1. House Of Cards Main Title Theme
[1:50-3:36] Season 2. House Of Cards Main Title Season Two
[8:06-9:58] Season 3. More Human Now (Main Title Season Three)
[9:59-12:10] Season 4. House Of Cards Main Title
[13:33-15:38] Season 5. House Of Cards Theme
But with the exception of Season 1 and Season 4, the other three all have extended sequence, with Season 2 being the outro, and Season 3 and 5 as intro. However it is unclear whether the music in the opening credit of each respective season were actually these in the soundtrack because one thing noticeable is the "Opera Lady" gets a repeat near the end of the Season 4 and 5 soundtrack that you don't hear in the show opening because that will extend/disrupt the run time of the video footage.
As for the differences, after analyzing the soundtrack file:
Season 1 is obviously different from 2.
Season 2 is slightly different than 3, with the added Opera Lady.
Season 3 is very subtle difference from Season 4 with some added single-hit percussion here and there.
Season 4 is same as Season 5 minus the extended parts.
But again it is unclear whether the song you hear from the opening credit is in fact these ones in the soundtrack.
