LINK TO PETER DIBBLE’S VIDEO ON HARBOR DRIVE: • The Forgotten Story of Harbor Drive: ...
The history of Portland’s Harbor Drive is so intriguing cause you don’t have to go too far back to be in the days before its existence and yet for decades now there’s still little evidence left that it ever existed. Harbor Drive cut through what is today Waterfront Park asking the Willamette River in downtown Portland, it’s purpose being to alleviate traffic congestion by having what was almost a freeway cutting from one end of downtown to the other. But as the need and practicality of Harbor Drive faded over time it was mostly demolished. But there are a few little remains of it in town.
In this video I wander along the city’s waterfront and talk about the history of Harbor Drive.
