WI v. MCCANDLESS (2019) - Defendant Ezra McCandless takes the stand in her own defense. On direct-examination, McCandless testified to stabbing her lover 24-year-old Alex Woodworth, and then lying to investigators.
Prosecutors claimed McCandless stabbed Woodworth sixteen times on March 22, 2018, to rid herself of the inner turmoil of having multiple affairs and an abortion. The defense argues McCandless acted in self-defense when Woodworth tried to rape her. She was found guilty of first-degree murder and is serving life in prison.
