She was a survivor of the attack on the editorial staff of the satirical weekly magazine Charlie Hebdo in 2015. The French-Moroccan journalist Zineb El Rhazoui has been outspoken about freedom of speech, feminism, and secularism from a young age. She fled Morocco after being imprisoned four times for feminist human rights activism.
Recently, she was stripped of the Simone Veil Prize, which she won in 2019 for her tireless fight against radical Islam. The reason behind this decision was her sharp criticism of the Israeli government.
