The competition surrounding the creation of the largest ocean liner would have many countries involved. The record set by these ocean liners may outlive the liner itself. Some notable examples include the SS Great Eastern and RMS Queen Elizabeth. Other ships may receive the record twice, such as RMS Olympic and RMS Queen Mary.
