From the Emmy-nominated New York: A Documentary Film Soundtrack (complete version) by Brian Keane (2003). The documentary itself by Ric Burns was released in 1999 (Episodes 1-5), 2001 (Episodes 6-7) and 2003 (Episode 8). The piece is derived from one of Joseph Canteloube's Chants d'Auvergne known as La delaïssádo (The abandoned). It is heard throughout the series, but is not on the soundtrack CD; however, it is so beautiful I felt I had to make a video of it for the world to hear (all clips in the video are from the documentary, but recast in black and white). The complete score of 60 (!) songs is not available for purchase, nor to my knowledge on any streaming services, but all are available to stream on Brian Keane's web site - http://www.briankeanemusic.com/audio/.... This particular track is under “New York 2”, Track 14.
