September in Kyoto with lingering summer heat
Even in summer, the temperature is about 5 degrees cooler than in Kyoto City.
Shoju-in Temple is also called Fu-ring-dera (wind chime temple), and in September, it changes from sunflower wind chimes to cosmos wind chimes.
Also, from around the summer solstice to early September, a shadow of a heart appears from the window.
This is a rare sight only during this period.
At Koyamaen, a tea plantation with a spectacular view near Shojuin, you can enjoy a green tea latte while viewing the tea plantation.

Last but not least, Uji's cormorant fishing can be enjoyed until the end of September.
Uji's cormorant fishing is a summer tradition in Kyoto, as described in the Diary of the Dragonfly.
It is held from July to September, but it is best to see it in September because the temperature drops in the mornings and evenings and there is a breeze near the water.
It was fantastic to see the bonfire crackling and burning!
