AIR MARSHAL PRADEEP PADMAKAR BAPAT PVSM VSM (Retd)
1. Born on 12 Dec 1959, Air Marshal Pradeep Padmakar Bapat
was commissioned in the Indian Air Force in the Administrative
Branch on 28 May 1983. He is a Postgraduate in Zoology from Vikram
University Ujjain. He worked for initial ten years in the Fighter
Controller stream and then took to administrative stream taking over
the assignments Chief Administrative Officer in subsequent tenures.
2. He has held important field appointments which includes Chief
Administrative Officer of an Equipment Depot, Dy Chief
Administrative Officer of a Mirage Fighter base and Chief
Administrative Officer of a Sukhoi 30 Air base. He was also a
member of Indian Airforce team which participated in Joint exercise
with South African Air Force named Golden Eagle at Hoiedspruits
(होइड्स्पृइट्स) in South Africa. He was promoted as an Air
Commodore to take over the reins of Air Force Station Avadi,
Chennai on 01 Dec 2011. This station was an Equipment Depot for
clothing, tentage and Stock Holding Depot for small arms and
ammunition. On 01 Aug 2015 he was promoted as Air Vice Marshal
and assumed the appointment of Asst Chief of Air Staff (AF Works).
On 01 Aug 2017 he was promoted to the rank of Air Marshal. He
assumed the appointment of Director General (Administration) on
promotion.
3. On 01 Nov 18, the Air Marshal assumed the appointment of Air
Officer in charge administration. The Air Marshal retired from active
Service after three and a half decades of yeoman service to the
organisation on 31 Dec 2019. The Air Officer is a recipient of
“Vishisht Seva Medal” in 2014 and was also conferred with “Param
Vishisht Seva Medal” on 26 Jan 2020 for his service post retirement.
4. Air Marshal was felicitated on 26th April 2022 with ‘Madhya
Pradesh Ratna Alankar Award by the Governor of Madhya Pradesh
Hon’ble Mangubhai Patel at Kushabhau Thackeray International
Convention Centre in Raj Bhavan Bhopal, for his dedicated service
to the nation.
5. Post retirement he has been elected as President of Akhil Bhartiya
Poorv sainik seva Parishad Maharashtra and Goa. This organisation
works for welfare and strengthening the hands of Ex-serviceman in
the state. He is Director in Aanav Seva Foundation an NGO works for
Rainwater Harvesting in water starved villages of Maharashtra with
the help of CSR.
5. He is a keen sportsman, fond of the outdoors and keeping
fit. He plays Golf, Badminton and Cycle Polo. He has represented
Madhya Pradesh twice in National Cycle Polo Championship. He is
also holding an appointment of President of Cycle Polo Federation
of India. He has led Indian Military sports contingent to Wuhan China
during world military games in Nov 2019.
