Creed formed in Tallahassee, Florida in 1995 under the name Naked Toddler when Stapp and guitarist Mark Tremonti, then they added bassist Brian Marshal and drummer Scott Phillips.
Then later they changed their name to Creed which was named after Marshall's previous band, "Maddox Creed".
