Eleven-hours or Portolaca Grandiflora gets its name because it opens its flowers at the hottest time of the day, that is, from 11:00 in the morning. Of course, there may be some variations depending on the region of the country you live in due to the intensity of the sun, but they are plants that need sunlight to open and produce lots of flowers.

Therefore, grow your Eleven-hour plant in full sun, receiving 6 to 8 hours of sunlight every day. And this is a secret for it to bloom in abundance, the more sun Eleven-hour receives, the more flowers it will produce!

WATERING
Eleven o'clocks are succulent plants, that is, they store water in their leaves and stems and are therefore a plant that does not tolerate waterlogging. We should only water them when they touch the soil and feel that it is slightly dry. You don't need to wait for the soil to dry out. You touched the soil and felt that it was slightly dry, you can water it. When watering, you can water the entire surface of the soil abundantly until the water comes out of the drainage holes.

SUBSTRATE
You can use the substrate suitable for succulents, which is a very loose substrate with good drainage, or you can make the substrate by mixing good quality vegetable soil with other materials that fulfill the function of not leaving the earth compacted and that allow a good passage of irrigation water. I usually mix one part vegetable soil with one part substrate for epiphytic orchids, which is made up of crushed charcoal and broken tree bark. Another option is to mix some coarse construction sand into the topsoil to achieve the same objective.

FERTILIZING
It is a plant that will reward us with more flowers if we fertilize it frequently. An excellent option is Forth Flores, which is a fertilizer rich in phosphorus and several other nutrients that the plant needs to always look beautiful. We can place it in the substrate at the time of planting according to the dosage recommended on the manufacturer's label and then use it once a month.

SEEDLINGS
One option for having Eleven-hour seedlings is through seeds that are easily found in markets and flower shops. The best time to sow them is in spring and summer. Another way is to make seedlings through cuttings from a plant that we already have or have received, and to do this, simply cut healthy pieces of the branch measuring approximately 10 to 15 cm. And finally, we can also buy the seedlings already formed, they are sold individually or in boxes with 15 seedlings and are very affordable.
