A 40-year-old murder mystery appears to have been partially solved with the help of a Tennessee high school sociology class. In 2018, teacher Alex Campbell challenged his students with solving the case involving the deaths of women with red hair whose bodies were found scattered around Tennessee and bordering states from 1983 and 1985. The following year, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation tied Jerry Johns, the man students determined to be the killer, to the murder of Tina Farmer, one of the women named in the school project. Now, Campbell’s class is still working the case. Campbell and one of his students, Reiley Whitson, join NewsNation host Dan Abrams.
