Bill Gates, the Co-Chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, in an interview with CNBC-TV18, sounded the alarm on stagnation in global health progress since 2020.

Despite significant advancements between 2000 and 2020, when child mortality rates saw a remarkable decline, the past five years have seen a worrying plateau. Gates stressed the urgency of addressing this issue, emphasising that the world is "very off track" in meeting the ambitious global health goals set in 2015 for 2030.

Bill Gates expressed concern over his ability to meet the ambitious $9 billion funding target set for GAVI, the global vaccine alliance. "I’m a salesman for GAVI. They’ve given me a $9 billion quota, and I’m afraid I won’t meet it".
