Actor Amanda Abbington has issued an apology for past comments about the trans community.

The Sherlock actor made the apology in light of calls for a boycott of Strictly Come Dancing, the BBC dance competition she is participating in this year.

Amanda Abbington caused offence when she Tweeted in March that she did not approve of a 12-year-old boy performing in drag.
