Karamchedu happened in 1985. That time Dalits were scattered and all were behind the congress party. There were no organization for Dalits. One percent dalits were with communist party. Majority were with Congress party, which gave land, house etc. 6 Madigas were killed by Kamma community. Dalit Mahasabha was there then made this as an international issue. In the morning 6 A.M Kammas attacked Madigas. Kammas came by lorries and hunted people and killed. Those doors of the houses of Dalits were hiding were broken and beat people. Brothers were tied and in front of them they rapped their sisters. They attacked by weapens, knife, loggs etc. In this attack 6 people died. After the killing there was a big movement. All the movement came against the Kamma caste, however in opposing there were many non-dalit communities too, majority of them supported were BC's. they also supported financially, tonnes of rices and other materials were given to the public. However the movement was not even able to file FIR on Chagupada Chenchiramaiah, who was the main culprit in the entire incident. Though all spoke on public meetings against him but still he was not registered. For the last two decade if anyone does anything against Dalits, then Dalits use to say that dont forget the case of Chenchiramaiah.
It was the time NTRamarao came to power and the Kamma community started to assert their identity. During the protest rally, Kammas there called the elders in the rally and said if we kill there you are taking a rally here. If we kill you here who will rally for you there. we felt too thats true who will ask.
After three years, the main culprit were killed by People's War. After the incident there was a new formed courage. And Dalits started saying that what happened in Karmachedu will happen here too. After the Karamchedu still there were atrocities on Dalits however it was not that serious. Again in 1991 there was another atrocity. In august 7 malas and 1 Madigas were butchered. In the village near Guntur Malas and Madigas live together. In this time there were good educated dalits within both the community. These educated people started questioned the inequal treatment. Even at that time there were police pickiting in the village. one day the police came to Dalits and told Reddys and Naidus are planning to kill and we cannot help better you run away from the house. Malas and Madiga were running while crossing the field, the hidding Reddys killed dalits. They copped the entire body and packed in a gunny bag and threw near by cannal. the body was found after four days. The gunny bag was sent for postmortem, a dalit doctor who did postermortm saw decayed body with insects across the bag. He (Ravichandra) hanged himself. though it is 8 people but later they killed another Dalit. Though all were fighting for justice. The SP Meena lathi charged on innocent protesters who were demanind justice. They fired and shot one person. Therefore 11 people were killed. even after this when dalits went for chalo delhi, in Delhi one dalit women was murdered. Therefore it is 12 people. The Dalit Mahasabha which was started after Karmachedu became into three in Chundru, one was Katti Padmarao, Bojja Tharakam, Babu Rao. In Karmacedu the attack on dalits were from Upper Caste. In Chunddur the Uppercaste took the support of BC and attacked Dalits.
In 1998 Vempetta happend 5 Madigas and 4 BC's were murdered. The attackers went to Madigas village and attacked 82 houses of Madigas and burnt all of them. before burning they killed 5 Madigas, 4 BC's and put in the house and burnt. only bones were there. In this the attackers were Malas and BC's. The Reddys have changed the strategy at this time. using the same community to kill the same people. Since then the same trend continues till lakshmipeta.
