Dû bist mîn, ich bin dîn is the first of six connected verses found in the Tegernsee collection of letters (Codex latinus Monacencis 19411) fol. 114v at the end of a love letter. They were written towards the end of the 12th century by an anonymous writer. The text is one of the best known examples of German literature of the Middle Ages and is considered the oldest Middle High German love song. It is commonly considered a poem, but this view is disputed in German studies.

Du bist mein, ich bin dein.
Dessen sollst du gewiss sein.
Du bist eingeschlossen
In meinem Herzen,
Verloren ist das Schlüsselchen:
Du musst auch für immer darin bleiben.
