“Don’t tell people your plans, show them your results” and “let it go so things can start to flow” are probably quotes you have heard and had sit with you in the past, but did you ever stop and think about who the author of these quotes may be?

Today, I feel honoured to have Idil Ahmed (or who you may know as Idillionare) share the stage with me as she tells us about her journey to becoming a spiritual speaker and motivational blogger. With 1.6 million followers on Twitter and 331 thousand on Instagram, the “Getting out of your way” author talks about how her journey to where she is and her inspiration.

Ahmed, who is originally from Somalia but grew up in San Diego, says she was mostly inspired by her father who would always answer her numerous questions as a child and constantly told her that she could do anything she wants to. She started to write about how she was feeling in journals when a group of friends caught on to her and encouraged her to share her thoughts with the world.

She published her book “Getting out of your way” in 2013 which mainly deals with overcoming fears, believing that her real talent and artwork shines through in her ability to convey the message to people. Ahmed calls it “multidimensionality” - she writes, and the reader interprets from the message what is suitable for them, what they want to hear.

I personally know exactly where she is coming from. Whenever I am going through something, her words feel like a message delivered specifically to me. It resonates with me every time and I kind of feel like it’s an answer or a wake-up call telling me what to do or not do.

I am also intrigued by how Idil sees the world spiritually, so I took this opportunity as a chance to ask her what energy and dreams mean to her, and how she defines success and material things. To Idil, energy is what she feels is floating through her body. It is a state of being; something that you are rather than something you seek. You access your energy when you focus within yourself and limit those negative thoughts.

Take this moment to self-reflect and think: If right now you say “I am new this moment, who can I become?” You feel your energy increasing automatically because you gave yourself a chance to let go of the past and start all over, and that is just the mental part of it.

The physical part is what you put into your body, mainly what you are eating and how much of it is healthy. You tune into that part of you through meditation, breathing, self-reflection. It is essential to her to drink much water a day, which is something I really connected with because I know how water can sometimes affect your whole body and mood. Shout out to Mai Dubai for keeping me hooked! Moreover, of course, we both recommend staying away from processed and artificial foods, as junk food really drains your energy and weighs you down. Watch the video and hear her inspiring words.

Idil encourages us also to ask, what is it that I really want out of life? After you answer that, you start to see opportunities coming your way, and according to her, the challenge here is to allow yourself to take them. The balance truly lies in making it happen when it shows up and allowing it through the process.

What about you? Have Idil’s words meant something to you? What keeps you inspired and empowered? Let me know in the comments down below!
