Cannonball Adderley is definitely on of the most intense alto saxophonists in jazz! Here he proves that in this live "Work Song" solo, which I made the transcription of and tried to imply as well as I could the many nuances in phrasing he uses. The notes are one thing (and NOT easy), but the phrasing added to that brings it to a unique level of musicianship.
I played this as part of a mouthpiece test on the Theo Wanne New York Bros 2 mouthpiece, tip opening 8. This is a Meyer based mouthpiece (like Cannonball Adderley used to play) but with some improvements made by Theo Wanne.
