We start fatal frame at the himuro mansion playing as mafuyu. He searches for takamine as he went to the mansion to discover supernatural activity and wished to uncover what happened. However as mafuyu searched it became clear the place was very haunted with ghosts and spirits. He discovers the camera obscura which had the power to see the unseen and with the ability to capture ghosts when a photo is taken. Once mafuyu attempted to leave a strange girl in a white kimono appears which lured him further into the mansion not to be seen again.
