Abokash Tour Destination - Ep. 03 | Chandrachur watchtower is situated at Murti beat in Gorumara National Park. It is a good place to visit wild animals and birds. One-horn rhino is frequently spotted from here. Besides that, Indian bison, elephant, wild boar, deer, leopard, python, cobra, wide range of birds including peacock, horn-bill are also spotted here. The previous name was Khunia but change to Chandrachur in honour of a tusker named Chandrachur by the Forest Dept. of Bengal. It is very near to the Murti, a well-known tourist spot in North Bengal. You can take the Gorumara National Park safari and others watchtower safari like Chapramari, Jatraprasad, Medla, Chukchuki from here. You can come to the place of Dooars anytime throughout the year. It's an overnight journey from Kolkata by bus or train. The nearest railway station is New Mal Junction (17km) and can be avail from NJP as well. The nearest airport is Bagdogra, situated 90km away from here.
