Every offseason, like clockwork, something happens. A player of some standing in MLB signs in Japan, and people say they’re going to dunk.

Without fail. The player could be a AAA stud, the player could be a guy with a few MLB seasons under his belt. 8 times out of 10, these people are wrong. Especially in recent years.

Most of the time, players like that are forgotten. Consinged to the history books and remembered only by those who watched them, or found them while digging through a database.
