樽前山は北海道苫小牧市の北西に位置し標高1,041ｍの現在も活動を続けている火山です。「熔岩円頂丘」は、直径1,200ｍの火口中央の火口丘に、粘性の強いマグマが流出し、盛り上がって出来たもので、その後、雨や風などの影響で崩落し、山頂部は平坦化して盃を伏せたような形になっています。

Mount Tarumae is a volcano that is still active at an altitude of 1,041m, located in the northwest of Tomakomai City, Hokkaido.The "lava dome" was formed when highly viscous magma flowed out of the crater cone at the center of the crater with a diameter of 1,200 m, causing it to swell.
