A folktale of the origin of the Sarangan Lake which is located in the Magetan Regency. In the past, at the foot of Mount Lawu. There lived a husband and wife who until old age did not have children. Every day this couple always comes to say a prayer. The only thing they ask the creator is to give him a child immediately.
The husband and wife are named Ki Pasir and Nyi Pasir. In their daily life, they only garden in the fields and hunt animals to make ends meet.
Until one day the good news came, Nyi Pasir finally got pregnant. They are both very happy. It feels like the universe has supported and granted their request all this time. After Nyi Pasir was pregnant for 9 months, a boy was born who was then named Joko Lelung. Their happiness is complete as husband and wife.
