My second solo wild camp, what have I learnt?

Taking advantage of a break in the very wet summer weather we have had this year in Ireland, I headed off for what was only my second night out alone, camping just below the sweeping Cuilcagh Mountain ridge located in County Leitrim

Cuilcagh Mountain itself is designated an area of Special Scientific Interest (ASSI), a conservation area and a wetland of international importance, and so its a real privilege to be able to Hike and camp in such a scenic area of the country

This may be of interest to you if you, like me, are getting on a bit and wondering if its something you can take up and enjoy in later life. Others more experienced might like to skip through to get a feel for the terrain in this wonderful location. Conditions are not for everyone as there are no tracks, its very wet and boggy even in the summer with few; if any, other hikers
