While the rest of Kashmir is bustling with election slogans & rally traffic, life in this part of the valley seems unchanged. In an endeavour to explore the hidden corners of India, I landed up in the silent & serene mountain ranges of the Budgam district that serve as a humble abode to the shepherds of the area. This community of Shepherds get settled in their temporary homes, also known as a Doke, for 6 months along with their livestock to complete the grazing period.

The scenic views and the lush green grass are a treat to one's eyes but what lies behind all of it are the everyday struggles faced by the people of this region. They talk to me about how they have no road connectivity to shops, schools, or even hospitals. Water & electricity are a privilege and employment is nowhere to be found.

The only thing they demand from the government is 'tourism'. In the hope that tourism will, by default, provide them with employment, opportunities and basic necessities. Watch & experience the unknown world of Kunazabal in Jammu & Kashmir.
