Success Story

The year 1971 marked the start of PT. GURITA LINTAS SAMUDERA embarking on its journey, first under the banner of OYAMA / PT. TJAHAYA SAMUDERA INTERNATIONAL. Then it changed its name to LINTAS SAMUDERA in 1980, before assuming its current name in 1988 when Mr. Soenarto took over the helm of the company. From an empaty shell with no fleet under its name, within just a year, the company had ownership of 3 vessels, MV. Merica, Mandiri Satu and Salindo Perdana I, and chartered 5 additional ships, with a total cargo volume of 1,000,000 m³log.

The company then continued to implement systematic restructuring to better create customer satisfactions and develop trustworthiness. The result is apparent in its vigorous progress, in spite of facing a highly contested market environment. And when the economic crisis hit in 1998, the company steadily weathered the storm, even diversifying its range of cargo to import rive, cement, up to fertilizers. The fleet in operation has also been increasing steadily over the two decades, and by 2014, the company owned a total of 14 ships of various types and capacity, ranging from 1.800 to 52.000 dwt, and 15 sets of tug & barge.

The capability to fulfill all required shipping compliance is an integral part of the progress. As such, the International Safety Management Code (ISM Code) has been awarded to PT. GURITA LINTAS SAMUDERA in 2001, along with ISO 9001-2000 in 2002, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 in 2015.

Today, PT. GURITA LINTAS SAMUDERA feels confident in its capacity to provide a full range of shipping services, from basic ship-owning and operations, to agency, stevedoring, and ship management services, all the way to specific tailor-made services based on customers' particular requirements.
