Being fundamentally unassuming people, Liz Kenny is as little-known to her hometown community as George Hinchliffe is to his. But just because most residents of Salisbury and Deal have no idea of the world-class reputations of these musical mavericks they might be standing next to in the supermarket queue, doesn't mean we shouldn't celebrate their unique expertise, and playful mastery of music. This collaboration between Liz's early music group Theatre of the Ayre and George's cult national institution The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain is a wonderful showcase of how to bring together not only the sophisticated majesty of the lute and the simple eloquence of the ukulele, but the music of two Robert Johnsons, born 300 years and an ocean apart.
