I've sold thousands of high-quality cutting boards and every once in a while someone brings one back damaged, telling me that it's defective because it's cracked. 99.9% of the time, the cracks are the result of the board not being maintained well enough. This means that the owner has not oiled the board enough and the wood dried and shrank, causing the wood to 'delaminate'. Almost all of the time the delamination can not be fixed as the wood will not return back to shape but there is a trick to patching the board.

In this video I explain how to care for a board, how to know when it's oiled enough, and what to do if you develop a small delamination (crack).
