Recently, Shanghai has experienced a prolonged period of heavy rainfall lasting over ten days, with substantial cumulative rainfall and overlapping heavy rain areas. On June 30, Shanghai saw heavy rainstorms, with the northern and central areas experiencing particularly intense downpours. The heaviest rainfall recorded was 87.9 mm in Xujiahui Street, with a maximum hourly rainfall of 51.2 mm. The Shanghai Central Meteorological Observatory updated the blue rainstorm warning to a yellow warning.
The heavy rain in Shanghai caused widespread water accumulation. Water pooled at metro station entrances, mall entrances, and residential areas, forcing pedestrians to wade through the water and vehicles to move slowly.
