Roanoke is a small populated city located in what seems to be the middle of nowhere in Southwest, Virginia. Known for its southern charm, tasty restaurants and railroad history, it’s probably the last place you’d expect to hold an interactive museum dedicated to a crucial item in America’s gaming culture, the pinball machine. The Roanoke Pinball Museum is located downtown within The Center In The Square, a multifloor complex filled with shops and museums. The museum opened its doors in 2015 and with the help of Nic Schell, the museums Executive Director, remains a popular, yet obscure tourist location. The museum has over 60 unique pinball machines ranging in production dates all the way back to 1932. The best part of it all; every pinball machine is playable with a purchase of an admission ticket.

Across America; interesting and amazing locations lay within a days travel from your town, from your city, and from your home. The first step in discovering these places, is to walk outside your front door and explore. So join me, Paul Daigneault and my team at Pexped, and adventure into the world of the obscure, the curious, the beautiful, and the amazing as we explore our own backyards in Passport America.
