In the heart of Datia, Madhya Pradesh, nestled amidst serene landscapes, lies a spiritual haven known as Shri Pitambara Peeth , one of the most famous temples of Baglamukhi. Shree Swami Ji established it in the 1920s, which was also known as 'Pujyapaad' or 'Maharaaj,' Swamiji's origins (where he came from, or his name, etc) remain a mystery, adding to the allure. He stayed in Datia for a long period of time. He was and still is a spiritual icon for many who visit the Peeth or have been associated with him directly or indirectly. He did many anushthans and sadhanas for the protection and welfare of both humanity and the country. He also established the temple of Goddess Dhumavati within the ashram. Dhumavati and Bagalamukhi are the two of the ten Mahavidyas. In addition to those, there are temples of Parshuram, Hanuman, Kal Bhairav and other Gods and Goddesses spread across the large area of the Ashram. The Shree Vankhandeswar Shiva Shivling, endorsed by the Archaeological Survey of India, is believed to be as old as the Mahabharata, making it a significant Shaktipeeth.
