We had arrived in Leh by bus, and despite being very excited to have a look around, were cautious of the big change in altitude. A good thing too, as we were definitely feeling the effects and decided to take a few days to 'catch our breath'.

Once out and about we found tonnes to do. The environment, people, culture, food, geography, everything really, is very different in Ladakh to everywhere else we have been in India. We spent a day exploring the amazing Palace, and another climbing to the Tsiemo Fort. Everywhere we looked we saw another amazing view of the Nubra Valley and the beautiful city of Leh.

We loved this town.

Al, from New Zealand and Kel from Australia met through work in 2010 and have been together ever since. Always infected by the travel bug they finally decided to head off on an adventure and started with Vietnam and Laos before heading to Sri Lanka, India, then Cambodia and Indonesia. Their mission is to explore as many off the beaten track places as possible through a slow travel philosophy on a tight budget.
