When I was arranging Megalovania for orchestra, I really came to appreciate Toby Fox and his music. Fast forward a few years later, and when Toby released the videogame Undertale, I gravitated towards the soundtrack song "Bonetrousle".

Blue Trot is strongly influenced by "Bonetrousle" and when I wrote this song I imagined a bouncy feel, similar to a horse trot. The strong downbeats give it a powerful foundation of stability like a horse's posture, and then the bouncy trot on top gives it a fun lift of surprise.
