1989 Honda Prelude

Exterior Body

This 1989 Honda Prelude color options a Laguna Gold Metallic. Pretty Decent for its age, considering it does show some wear and tear. There is a number of imperfections on the exterior of this vehicle. The paint is chipping on the front portion of the body, on the end of the hood as well as the front bumper cover. Moving along the Driver side of the vehicle you will notice paint chips along the driver’s door near the door handle. Appears one may have pried along the door area to release it and in process bent that area causing paint to chip away. The exterior weatherstripping/trim is showing its age and has paint fade. The body moulding has signs of age, a deep cleaning and restoration with ceramic coating can have it like 89! Moving along to the rear end, though the “Prelude” emblem is missing that doesn’t mean it's not a Prelude! The Middle finish panel faintly presents the Prelude heritage with a washed out faded white. Hey, it's from 89, what more can you say. Signs of a non garage kept vehicle. The tail lights are in pretty good shape with not too much spider cracking if any in some spots. The bumper body moulding is also in good shape with fading from sun and age. Now on the passenger side you’ll immediately notice damage to the body on the lower B-pillar area at the bottom of the vehicle. Previous driver may have driven up too steep of a driveway or sidewalk and scrapped/dented the outer lower body. Some paint has chipped away revealing the metal and light rust has taken place. This does not hinder the door from opening or closing and the door has not taken any damage from that lower body damage. The passenger side’s window trim are showing signs of age that like the driver side as well. You will also notice the antenna is limp, has been snapped and now dangles over. Sunroof glass is in good shape, the gasket is showing its age mostly in color with fading. The front windshield also has a long crack along the mid to lower portion of the glass. Now lets talk about the shoes! The Prelude comes with factory Toyota Mr2 AW11 stock steel wheels. The tires are in low condition but hold air just fine so testing and rolling about won’t be a issue but its recommended to replace the tires before any longer ventures out on to the open road. That about wraps up the exterior!

Interior

The so powerful Florida sun has kissed this Prelude’s interior many of times and it shows. The sun has loved all along this interior since 89, now that’s a long loving relationship. There is sun fade and wear all throughout the seating. The driver side seat has heavy wear on the outer left bolstering, with exposed foam. These seats has covers on them prior to receiving it. The previous owner wanted to preserve their nostalgic 80s seat or hide the imperfections of the front seats. The steering wheel is showing cracking along the top and signs of usage and wear. The clusters fuel gauge and coolant temp gauge are malfunctioning and does read any data on the instrument clusters gauges.

Engine

The o2 sensor has been cut on the manifold. The car does idle high around the 2k range at cold start then down to about 1100 to 900 once it has warmed up. This motor does appear to be healthy it pulls strong but does have a light smoke due to fuel (can be smelled) highly possible due to the o2 sensor being disconnected. Biggest problem is that the car won’t start under its own power unless jumped. There is a gap in the system somewhere, possibly a fuse or relay or misgrounded connection. As far as the transmission goes, it shifts into all gears smoothly with no grinds as should. Clutch pedal feels normal as well too.
