French company Diptyque Audio was back at ‪@floridaaudioexpo9533‬ to demo new speakers and woo us over to the planar magnetic side. The DP140 MKII are a 2-way design with a rated frequency response of 35Hz-22kHz and sensitivity of 87dB 1 watt/meter. These speakers use no conventional cone drivers to deliver deep impactful bass. Diptyque’s patented Push Pull Bipolar Magnet (PPBM) employs large section bipolar magnets located at the front and rear of the diaphragm which keep the aluminum tape coils in a constant magnetic field while the membrane moves. Don't be fooled by their thin profile, the DP140 MKII weigh a whopping 83lbs each and look beautiful in white. There are about 160 color options to choose from and the pair will set you back $17k if you want this sound in your home. Less expensive models are available including the DP107 we heard last year for $8k/pair.
